I got into this through acting. High school improv, doing voices, making people laugh. Somewhere along the way I got just as interested in how images are made, and by the end of film school at CSUN I was pointed at both.
My first job out of school was visual effects at Stoopid Buddy Stoodios in Burbank, compositing and CGI on two Emmy-winning seasons of Robot Chicken and a season of Supermansion. I took it partly as a way into voice work. That part didn’t happen, but I spent a year and a half learning how network-level work actually gets made.
I was shooting paid gigs the whole time. My first ones were headshots for other actors, and by 2018 the freelance work was the job. Since then I’ve worked as a cinematographer, director, editor, photographer, and AC across commercial and narrative projects: patient story campaigns for VIP Medical Group, a 12-minute company profile film for the engineering firm Mulhern & Kerp, promo work for Water Detective and ATEC, a spec ad for Audio Technica, event coverage for Insomniac and Bassrush. I was 1st AD on the feature Neon Candy and DP on Brie, which was nominated for Best Cinematography at the San Diego 48 Hour Film Festival.
I’m in IATSE Local 122, working corporate conferences and resort events across San Diego plus video wall, lighting, and audio crew on concerts including Sabrina Carpenter, Zach Bryan, Porter Robinson, Journey, and Peso Pluma. I also take freelance AV and graphics op work directly.
There was also a stretch in mid 2020 as a jetski instructor, which was a nice escape from covid.
Recently, the performing came back around. I post character work as @my1000voices, where it’s picked up over 7 million views and 17,000 followers in about a year, and I do commercial and character voiceover out of a treated booth.
I own a full production package: two camera bodies, cine zooms, lighting, audio, gimbal, drone. I shoot it, cut it, and deliver it, and I bring in crew when a job needs more hands.
Based in Encinitas, working across San Diego and LA. I travel for the right project.
